FBHow many of you know that you should be doing video but fear is getting in the way? Well, you’re not alone! Based on the feedback I got from participants at a recent video workshop, F.E.A.R. was the number 1 reason entrepreneurs are not doing video.

YouTube has surpassed Facebook when it comes to on-line video marketing. For any of you not to have a presence on YouTube means you are missing the boat – seriously. It’s time to come out from behind the computer and stop being the world’s best kept secret.

As I keep telling my clients, F.E.A.R. raises its ugly head when there is the absence of information! Most of you would jump at the chance to do video when you get your hands on the information you need to make it happen. At least, that’s certainly what happened at the workshop. Once participants were given specific information, and then practiced creating video right on the spot, quickly realized it is fun, effective and easy to do. That’s what I want for you, too.

Here are 4 steps we covered in just a few hours to get people up and running with video:

  1. IDENTIFY YOUR STORY

I am often asked by people how to differentiate themselves in the market. So, if you were to line up people in either the real estate industry or the coaching industry (or, pick any industry, actually) and look for the differentiator – it comes down to your story. What makes you relatable to people? What makes you unique? What do you have to share that is inspiring to your audience? That’s what you want to focus on.

  1. WHAT PROBLEM DO YOU SOLVE/WHAT SOLUTION DO YOU PROVIDE

People are generally spending their money on 4 things – Time, Health, Wealth and Relationships. What solution do you provide in any, or all, of these categories. Always be thinking in terms of ‘end result’. Where many entrepreneurs ‘trip over themselves’ here is that they make it complicated. It’s really quite simple – how can you help people save time, for find more time? How can you help people make/save more money? Keep it simple.

  1. CREATE A SCRIPT

My colleague, Ruth Sherman (http://www.charisma.com), has created a series of video scripts that are as simple to use as a paint-by-numbers kit. All you need to do is fill in the blanks – contact her to schedule a call if you need help with this. A clear, clean, easy to follow script will help you to get the message out. Keep your video short – under 2 minutes. Your audience will appreciate that. And be interesting! Bring out your personality. Have fun with this.

  1. HAVE A CALL-TO-ACTION

People need to be told what to do – where to go. Always have a call to action at the end of your video – as simple as ‘to get more tips like this, be sure to visit my website at http://www.hirePat.com. Don’t just leave them hanging by saying ……’and have a nice day’. That leaves them confused and frustrated. Tell them where to go – and build your list at the same time.

As entrepreneurs, we tend to complicate things. Getting your message out on video accomplishes many things – and it’s free! This is a no-brainer, my friends. Just get out of your own way and be sure to get your message out to the masses who need to hear what you have to say!

  1. My message to women would be to stop being powerless! Step up and speak your purpose and passion. Live authentically and forge your path to becoming the woman you’ve always wanted to know! Your voice is an instrument of power. Step out of the shadow of fear and know that you have been blessed to be a blessing.

  2. I made a commitment to myself for 2014 to post a Monday morning video each week and have followed through. When I look back to the first one we did until now I cannot believe how far we have come in regards to the quality of what we are producing. Better still, it has provided me with loyal followers, material I can repurpose, has made me a better presenter in front of the camera and on the speaking circuit, refined my offerings and unbelievably it has become a lot of fun. Therefore, if you are hesitating about getting yourself out there then I simply have three words for you. JUST DO IT!
