Have you ever hosted a major event or product launch and then gone on vacation for a break? While it is mighty tempting to develop this habit, it’s one of the worst things you could possibly do. Timing is everything.

It takes an inordinate amount of time, energy and resources to either launch a new product or host a major event.  It can be downright exhausting when all is said and done and, of course, it would be tempting to just run away for a few days to rest and re-charge.

Just know that it is not the smartest thing to do when you are serious about growing your business! Timing IS everything.

Here are a few tips to follow that work well for me to ensure a successful sales experience especially after a live event:

1. Immediate Communication with The Team!
It is a team effort when closing sales and/or bringing on new clients. It is critical that everyone on the team understands the processes and systems that need to be put into place and/or kicked into action at the close of a live event. We meet the day following (but first, I always treat the team to a spa experience – they work hard and they very much deserve some kind of reward!) – and we sit and review every piece of the sales process.

2. A review of the ‘Next Steps”.
It is critically important that everyone understand what the next steps are – and who is responsible for what piece of the process. When bringing new clients into the business, this is a very emotional and vulnerable time for them – so the team members need to step up to the plate and ensure that there are no gaps or errors made in the process. (and when/where there are, own it – fix it – and move on ……quickly!)

3. Communicate with the New Clients Quickly.
When audience members sign up for a new program and then they get back to their world, they quickly forget and/or get confused as to what just happened. Prompt communication with them is vital!! Be sure to reach out and touch, in some way, so they feel connected right away.

4. Communicate With Prospects Right Away.
Some prospects needed to get back to their own world and have some conversations with partners, move some money around or whatever next step needed to happen for them. Keep them in mind – be sure to reach out and be available right away to answer questions and/or concerns. This is critically important timing in the whole process. Stay on top of this no matter what!

5. Get The Paperwork Completed Right Away.
Be sure to start the flow of paperwork – contracts, policies, procedures, schedules, etc. – and get the new clients engaged right away. We also schedule a New Client Orientation phone call with me within 10 days to, once again, review any questions and concerns – to congratulate the new clients and help them to understand what comes next.

Spending money and investing in programs is a very emotional step for many entrepreneurs – it is critically important that we stay sensitive to that and be available. After a major event is NOT the time to go away on vacation and be out of sight. Stay involved – stay engaged – and create a great first experience for new clients!

In this instance, everyone wins!
