Who Do You Talk To? - #PM57

Hi everyone, it’s Pat here. I wanted to talk to you about a really important topic today, and this is particularly for entrepreneurs, small business owners, anybody involved in an organization where you’re at the top and you have full accountability, full responsibility, and the buck stops here.

The reason I’m bringing this to Facebook Live today is because I had a conversation with a very successful business owner last week, and we got onto the topic about dreams, goals, and changes in business, and in particular, we were talking about evolution.

You know that when you get to a new level in business, there’s a new devil that pops up in business, and when you’re at the top of the game, you’re the one where the buck stops. You need to have someone to talk to. So who do you talk to? That was the conversation that we had.

This gal, who runs a very successful business, she has staff and she has team members. There comes a time in your business where you need to be making changes because of your evolution, and you want to look at perhaps going another level, which means that who got you there won’t get you here, and what got you there won’t get you here, meaning to the next level. So what do you do? Who do you talk to?

I’ve been through that situation myself. I’ve been through that scenario and, of course, one of the things I’m always recommending, and the number one solution for this, as a business owner, as an entrepreneur is get yourself a coach or a mentor.

I’ve worked with coaches for years and I have some great ones right now to help me grow my speaking business, but in talking to this particular business owner last week, she had no one to talk to. She doesn’t have a coach. She doesn’t have a mentor. It can get lonely at the top. It can be frustrating. It’s isolating. It’s challenging. Again, it begs the question, who do you talk to at that point in your business?

She was saying that she shared some of her ideas with her staff. That can scare them because they don’t see the big picture. They’re not the ones who wake up at two in the morning, tossing and turning, and looking for ways to pay the bills because, again, new level, new devil. That can come with some big expense attached to it. Therefore, when you’re making changes, that can mean some people changes too.

As we were talking about it, I said to her, “Who do you talk to?” It turns out it’s me that she talks to. We don’t have an official relationship; however, I’m a good listener. I have big shoulders, I know how to keep my mouth shut when she talks about the changes in her business, and so I wanted to put the question out to you, who do you talk to? It’s not appropriate to share a lot of these things with your team, with your staff, whether they’re permanent, whether they’re full time, whether you’re a small business and you consider them friends. That’s a big mistake with a lot of business owners.

My suggestion to you, I want to keep this short and sweet today, but it really is a hot topic as I talk to many business owners out there. A, when you’re at the top, you do need someone to talk to in confidence, in calm, and really, if nothing else, just to voice what it is what’s on your mind and where you want to go. You need someone to talk to. With your staff and with your team is not appropriate, not always appropriate.

Thirdly, if you don’t have a coach or you don’t have a mentor, which you should have, but if you don’t, I want to talk to you about one other option, and it’s what I call the Circle of Influence. I’m often talking to my clients about the Circle of Five. You become the average of the people you spend time with. As I was growing my business, I needed to source out and look for entrepreneurs who were making six figures, then multiple six figures, then high-end six figures because you become like the people you hang out with, and you earn the average of the people you spend time with.

I’m looking at a new concept for me, for what I’m creating, and it’s called the Circle of Influence. For some of you, you may need to just look at your circle of five and up-level in that regard. That is a success habit and that is a success tactic, and I invite you to go and try that today.

For the rest of you who are leaning in and want to hear more about Circle of Influence, I’m also coming to you today because I am testing a new concept, and it’s a private mastermind retreat concept, limited to 10 people. I had one in February. I was testing the whole concept and it was hugely successful. I was asked to do another one, and I’m doing that next week. I have one space left. I limit this to 10 people, high achieving entrepreneurs, good synergy, good energy, and you’re looking to expand your circle of influence, and/or you’re looking to up-level your game in your business, because I’m going to be talking about how to transform your life, transform your body, transform your business behind closed doors for a day-and-a-half, with me, next week, here in London. Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday next week.

I have one spot left. If you’re the right person and you are leaning in, and you want to know more, private message me. I’ll be happy to have a conversation with you. Just private message me here, leave me your email in the private message and I’ll get right back to you.

One spot left for the right person, for the right time, next week. I’ll be watching. Now you go and look at who you’re talking to and what needs to change, if anything.

Thanks everyone. Talk to you later.
