Many entrepreneurs find this a very difficult time of year – having enjoyed the ‘lazy, hazy days of summer’ – as they look up and realize the funnel is empty. That can certainly cause a feeling of panic and it should. Business needs to be humming along 12 months of the year – and for those of you who have systems, processes and a great team in place – you CAN take an extended summer break.
What I observe is that many of you DO NOT have the systems, processes, and team in place to keep things rolling along during the summer. That can be pretty scary as you scramble to make things happen so you can pay your bills, find clients, and get the ball rolling again.
I’ve been there, too. Let me share some of the simple steps I have taken in the past to generate business and cash flow quickly.
1. GET ON THE TELEPHONE.
Yes, that’s what needs to happen. Emails pile up in in-boxes. Flyers and mailers need time to be created, delivered and read. Videos also need time to be created and posted. Get on the telephone. It’s that simple. Start dialing.
2. CALL PAST AND CURRENT CLIENTS
When I advise clients to hit the phones, the very first question is always: ‘Who should I call?” – call past clients, call current clients, call friends, call relatives. Let them know you’re up and running for the fall and ask if they know anyone who could benefit from your services. Plain and simple. Ask. Ask. Ask.
3. SEND A SPECIAL EMAIL TO YOUR LIST
I would then prepare a special e-mail to go out to your list. Let them know that you have cleared your calendar as you get ready for the busy fall season and that you have a certain number of spots available for complimentary strategy calls. Get your calendar ready. Get your Time Trade (or appointment scheduler) ready – and start booking some calls. Then ask for the sale.
THIS DOES NOT HAVE TO BE COMPLICATED – SO DON’T MAKE IT COMPLICATED!
It really is as simple as what I listed above. 1-2-3. Go.
You’re not alone in this scenario. It happens to entrepreneurs all the time! The key to success now is to take immediate action. Get the funnel full. Get the momentum going. Get business flowing.
