I LOVE SALES. I know that is not a common feeling among entrepreneurs because I hear more about the ‘fear of sales’ more than anything. And that kind of thinking is a mystery to me.

To my way of thinking, that is exactly what sales is all about – helping people get what they want. We are all born with different gifts and talents. Being in business, and being an entrepreneur, means that there is a transfer of money in order to help people get what they want from you.
Sales is a good thing. This is the time of year when most of you are out there shopping your little hearts out anyway, right? You are spending money. You are buying what you want from people who are in a position to give it to you.
So why are many entrepreneurs paralyzed with fear just at the very thought of the word ‘sales’?! It IS all in the way you think about it – and it is all about the way you handle it, too. Many of you keep using the term ‘sleazy’ and express the fact that you don’t want to come off as being that way. Well, then, don’t! You have the power to handle that. That’s easy.
There are 3 surprising facts about sales and once you know them, it’s easy to succeed and make money.
1. YOU CAN’T SELL THAT WHICH YOU DON’T BELIEVE IN.
Surprisingly enough, I speak to many entrepreneurs to find out if they really, truly believe in what they are selling. For the most part, they are selling themselves! They are selling their own services. Many of you do not believe in yourself, in your ability to deliver, in your ability to provide a solution. Prospects can smell that on you. You`ve got to believe! You want to demonstrate enthusiasm and excitement about what you have to offer – about what you are selling. You`ve got to believe that it makes a difference in people`s lives. You.Have.Got.To.Believe!
2. YOU MUST FEED YOUR EGO.
Zig Ziglar talks about this all the time – and he is the master of sales! Every time you make a sale, it feeds your ego. It affirms and validates what you have to offer. It means you have been accepted. Now, it`s not JUST about having an ego. As with anything, don`t be going overboard here. But recognize that this does play a part. And so, to feed that ego and to keep those feelings of validation alive and well, you`ve got to keep the sales action going strong. This means a daily commitment to the sales process. Success breeds success.
3. SUCCESS AT SALES IS A HABIT.
And one daily habit that will not only feed your ego, but also your bank account, is to be making at least 15 sales calls a day. Yes. Each day! You`ve got to keep the funnel full. Does it ever end, you ask – NO! Success at sales is a habit. Commit to a daily routine and watch your revenue double, in no time at all. Success at sales is also practice. The more calls you make, the better you can become (I don`t say `will` become because I don`t assume that just because you make LOTS of calls, that you get better. Some of you need coaching and feedback on your sales conversations – just know that!) It all comes down to habit, commitment, persistence, perseverance – and focus.
When you have a solution that speaks to people`s needs for more time, improved health, increased wealth and improved relationships ……you`re in business! Stop being the best kept secret and get out there and be of service. You, too, can double your revenue in a month! Try it.
