Have you ever sat back after a summer, or after a holiday season, with regrets about how you spent the time?  I met with a client a few years ago and it was in the fall – we were discussing our different summer experiences. She was full of regrets.

The whole summer had passed by and she had not created any new experiences or memories! The sad part was the fact that lack of planning, and that experience, also impacted her young children.

Are you letting life pass you by like that just because you are a ‘busy’ entrepreneur? Or because you have NO planning skills? That has to be one of the saddest things ever. No happy summer memories! Life is too short for that, people.

People are always asking me how I managed to plan and have vacation breaks while I was growing my business over the past few years. Here’s the thing – you are crippling yourself and missing out on opportunities because of your BELIEFS!

Let me give you a few tips on how I’ve managed to plan for summer fun all the while growing my business from zero to over half a million dollars – because, if I can do it – so can you!

  1. CHANGE YOUR BELIEFS ABOUT WHAT IS POSSIBLE.

Your beliefs will hold you back from having a great life and from growing a great business. A few years ago I had no money and, at the time, thought I had NO time to be away from my business. I really believed that I had to stay in my office, keep my nose down, and grind away. I quickly came to the realization that I was letting life pass me by. I had already lost many friends and family members to critical illness and made a promise to myself that I would ‘live life fully’! And here I was – glued to my computer. Geesh! I didn’t need to get my own ‘wake-up’ call to realize that something had to change. And neither do YOU!

  1. MAKE A PLAN

Everyone around me knows I am committed to having my wall calendar mapped out so we know exactly what is going on in the business for the next year. And it is broken down into quarterly plans and then into monthly. I am now seriously committed to including my own personal plans for fun on that calendar, too, and it is non-negotiable.

So, FIRST YOU MAKE A DECISION!

Second, YOU MAKE A PLAN!

  1. MAKE IT HAPPEN!

This is where I am serious, my friends. Just because you have a plan doesn’t mean that you actually implement the plan (same holds true in your business!). I commit to at least 1 fun activity each week in the summer months – June through to August. In fact, I also commit to taking Fridays off. This is exactly what I did in the very beginning – Fridays in the summer WERE my summer vacation, LOL! That was all I could afford, dollar-wise and time-wise, and I was ok with that. I made sure that those days were filled with fun and adventure. I planned ‘Day Trips’ in the area where I live and off I went – windows down, music blaring – sometimes with a friend – sometimes all by myself.

THE KEY TO MY SUCCESS with all of this is that I took ACTION! And that’s what you must do so that you do not sit back in September with regrets. Life is too short for that. Summer is too short for that.

So, I ask you the question: What will you plan? What fun activities have you mapped out, for you and for your family?

I really want to hear from you – the more ideas we/you share, the more others will be inspired. Let’s get going…….

Please share your thoughts!
