Most entrepreneurs fail due to lack of focus. There are so many distractions out there – bright shiny objects, squirrels, and so much more, LOL.

What I do know for sure is that developing the skill to focus is what will set you up for success. What I also know for sure is that you only need to focus on 1-3 things a day to grow your business and create the kind of life you really want. Most of us make it much more complicated than it needs to be.

IS THAT YOU????

Well, then, in the spirit of this whole article, I am going to keep it short and sweet. Here are my 3 steps to staying focused, setting realistic goals and getting things done.

#1: FOCUS ON A PERSONAL GOAL

As far as I am concerned, success and progress all starts with the way you think – with your mindset. I always start the new year with the goal and intention to strengthen and develop my critical thinking skills. Of course, most people start the new year thinking about health goals – I understand that – but that, too, all starts with the way you think. What do you want specifically? How bad do you want it? When is the last time you read or learned about a critical thinking skill that you could improve – risk-taking, flexibility, resiliency, anger management, decision-making (THIS is a big one!!!), goal-setting and more. Get serious about this one and see how much your thinking, your business and your life will improve.

TIP #2: FOCUS ON A PROFESSIONAL GOAL

For me, this means taking a good look at my professional skills – those skills which set me apart as an entrepreneur and ahead of the pack in my industry. An inventory of these skills includes looking at professional speaking, networking, writing, creativity, ……..any skill that will take me to the next level. This is something I highly recommend you do to get your year off to a good start.

TIP #3: FOCUS ON AN ORGANIZATIONAL GOAL

‘As we speak’, my team and I are working on the technological support in my business. I bought a new laptop for Christmas and, this week, we are getting it all set up and ready for use when I hit the ground a running on January 5th. We’ve reviewed the systems and processes in the business to identify which ones we keep and which ones must go – and what new ones will serve us best. This is an ideal time to review your systems, processes, technology, team members, coaches (you DO have a coach, don’t you? – if not, email Denise@patmussieux.com so we can get on the phone and discuss this!) Get ready and get going to get growing.

SO THERE YOU HAVE IT!

KEEP IT SIMPLE!

WHAT WILL YOU FOCUS ON THIS WEEK?
